Deep muscles of the back, posterior view
Muscles located along the vertebral column act to extend or flex the back. The splenius capitis and the more inferior splenious cervicis muscles arise on the spinous processes and ligaments of the cervical and superior thoracic vertebrae刺鲶 , insert on more superior cervical vertebrae and the skull郭今秋 , and act to extend the neck.
The deeper semispinalis capitis muscle arises on cervical and thoracic vertebrae秋成勋, inserts on the occipital bone打雀英雄传, and acts to extend the head. The erector spinae muscle include the longissimus thoracis and spinalis thoracis muscles; they arise on the thoracic and lumbar vertebrae王蒙徽 , insert on more superior vertebrae黄金道士 , and act to extend the vertebral column.
The deeper semispinalis thoracis muscle originates on the spinous processes of T6-T10闯红灯多久能查到 宋茶茶 , inserts on more superior vertebrae警犬巴打 , and also acts to extend the vertebral column. The iliocostalis thoracis muscle arises on the last seven ribs张效铭 , inserts on more superior ribs, and acts to stabilize the thoracic vertebrae when the vertebral column is extended.
